Mikel Arteta was a former Spanish football player who played as his midfielder. Arteta has played for the under-21 Spain football team but he did not appeared for the senior national team. Arteta started his football career as a trainee with F.C. Barcelona but he could not make his way into the team. Thus, he was then transferred to Paris Saint-Germain, a football club in the French League on the basis of Loan. Later on, he was signed by a football club of Scottish Premier League known as Rangers where he contributed to his team for winning League Cup, Scottish Cup and the Domestic Trebel in the year 2002-03. After being hailed as a successful midfielder at Rangers, he moved back to his home where he joined Real Socieded but he failed to make its way within their first team. Therefore, in 2004-2005, he was again loaned to English Premier League team Evertion F.C. where he also signed a permanent contract in 2005. After 6-7 years stay at Everton, he then joined one of the Big four clubs of English Premier League known as Arsenal. He was appointed as a Captain of the club in 2014. Arteta has successfully won FA Community Shields and two FA Cups while being a part of Arsenal football team before the expiration of his contract in 2015-16 season.

The 34 years old midfielder of Arsenal, has confirmed his retirement from Football after he has suffered many severe injuries and did not make even a single comeback for the current English Premier League season of 2015-16. Following the expiration of his contract, he retired and confirmed to coach Manchester City along with Pep Guardiola. He had appeared nine times at the bench but could not join the Arsene Wenger’s side due to his long-suffering injuries.
Mikel Arteta stated in response to the media speculations that I am going to leave Arsenal and I will be announcing my retirement from Football to take up the coaching role at Manchester City for the upcoming season of 2016-17. This does not mean that Arteta did not enjoy his tenure at Arsenal, in fact it was the best time for him to play as a professional football player.

Mikel Arteta is now moving forward to join Pep Guardiola as a coach of Manchester City. He further stated during the conference, that I am ready to meet the challenges ahead for Manchester City and I am quite excited for that. I would love to embrace the opportunity to the fullest. He further said that I have always been interested in something more than playing football so that I could also help to develop a team that could be one of the best.
Arteta has played his last game for Arsenal against Aston Villa where they have won the match by 4-0 in 2015-16 Premier League season. However, he could not control his tears when he heard the final whistle of the match.
